Terms of Use
Agreement
These terms are a contract between you and Christopher Davis, doing business as Own The Run (“we”), for the Own The Run iOS app. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The service
Own The Run records GPS runs, shows stats, and optionally lets you share, follow, join clubs, message, and compete. Features can change. The app is provided as-is during early public use. We may add paid features later; this version does not charge inside the app.
Your account
You must be at least 13. You are responsible for the email and password you use. Tell us if you think the account was used without you. We may close an account that is abusive, fake, or unsafe.
GPS and safety
Run outdoors at your own risk. Watch traffic and your surroundings. Do not stare at the phone while moving. GPS can be wrong. Times, distances, leaderboards, and “best” marks are estimates from the phone’s GPS, not certified race results. Do not use the app where phones are not allowed, or in a way that puts you or others in danger.
Competition
Boards, time trials, route attempts, and similar marks use the clocks described in the app (moving time for everyday pace; elapsed time for ranking marks). Cheating, spoofed GPS, or uploading someone else’s track to a board is not allowed. We may remove results.
Your content
You keep rights in photos, captions, and messages you post. You grant us a license to host and display them so the app can work (for example showing your shared run to people who can see it). Do not post anything you do not have the right to post. No illegal content, harassment, sexual content involving minors, or spam.
Other people
Follow, clubs, and messages are between users. We are not responsible for what someone else says or posts. Use Report on content that breaks these terms. We may hide or delete reported material and, if needed, suspend accounts.
Our rights in the app
The app, name, and design belong to Christopher Davis / Own The Run. You may use the app for personal, non-commercial running. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or wrap the service as your own product.
Maps and third parties
Maps come from Mapbox. Sharing a card to Instagram or another app is your choice and follows that app’s terms. Apple’s terms also apply to the download from the App Store.
Disclaimer
The app is provided “as is.” We do not promise that GPS, maps, notifications, or competition results will be accurate or always available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for injury, lost data, or damages from using the app. If a court finds we owe you money, the amount is limited to what you paid us for the app in the last 12 months (currently $0).
Ending the account
You may delete your account in Profile. We may stop the service or your access at any time. Some license terms (content you posted to other people, limitation of liability) survive.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that Apple’s App Store rules still apply. If a piece of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Contact hello@owntherun.app.
